Movers, Makers, Groovers & Shakers is our on-going docu-series featuring artists and creatives whose work explores the ideas of broken beauty.
'Supply and Demand' was a collaborative art installation project that took place in an abandoned building in downtown Indianapolis. Sixteen artists worked together to re-invent the space as we saw fit.
For our individual contribution, RottoBella envisioned a fun and inviting space, combining aesthetics of old-style sign painting, cartoon illustration, and interactivity to create a space that endeared all who experienced it. For one part of the piece, we created an interactive painting where viewers were asked to contribute color to the black and white painting. We also handcrafted a four-foot illustrated monster which people loved to snap their picture with.
Show curated by the awesome friends at art + space.
We've had the pleasure of working with the talented Ben Scott-Brandt on multiple projects, including a vinyl release for his band Ribbons of Song. We were honored to make the official music video for his gentle art-pop tune 'Salty Sweet'. This was the first single released from his debut solo album 'Vallidiane'.
With every project, we aim to mix a hand-made aesthetic with a layer of something magical and or beautiful. This time, Alec Balas shot the dancers in a studio in Michigan, under the Direction of Ryan Balas, whom edited the video. Eric Stine did all of the animated art layers. We couldn't be happier with the results.
(Note: might not watch at work if you have nosey office mates)

Promotional video to celebrate the announcement of the new Neiman Marcus Hudson Yards in New York. Using 10,000 hand-placed butterflies, carpenters, set dressers, technicians transformed the location into a gorgeous space in just a few hours. Later that night the space hosted a star-studded event. Ryan Balas documented the entire day's process, and RottoBella created this nice little video for it's promotion.
